OMG HI!!! I’m still alive too… just getting over Covid, in fact. I went to Vegas on a work trip and it followed me home. Symptoms weren’t too bad except that the brain fog is taking a while to lift. I’m pretty sure my neurons are only now starting to grow back.

I’m recently obsessed with Interview with the Vampire on AMC. Never read the books, but the show is the proudly gay vampire romance we all deserve!

I don’t blame you for isolating. I did too, until literally *everyone else* in my family came down with it. The main reason I was being so careful was so I wouldn’t pass it on to my teenage nieces and my aging parents. Once they all got sick, I decided to say “fuck it” and not worry anymore. They all recovered, thankfully.

IwtV is pushing all my lapsed-Catholic buttons HARD. It’s gorgeous and over-the-top and campy and funny and moving and ridiculous. The cast is amazing and Louis is BEAUTIFUL and he owns my soul. The worst part is that season 1 is only 7 episodes. I want 200 more!

Hi. I'm here. Still trying to avoid getting COVID, too. Fringe and The X-Files? Excellent.

Hi, lovely to see you're posting. I'm still around, being more careful than most about COVID, plus my eyesight has deteriorated since March 2020, so there's little motivation to return to the cinema/theatre, for example. I'm currently into Strictly ComeDancing, reawtching The West Wing, and reading rather than writing fanfiction.

it’s getting lonely being careful when most ppl aren’t anymore, isn’t it?

Yes! Well, it has been for over a year. I keep hoping 'being careful' will mean something different after this winter and my own situation changes, but so many have moved on to pretending it never happened!

Strictly = autumn/winter for me, and is interesting as a mass fannish experience. FWIW, I started rewatching The West Wing in early 2021, but then again, the UK has had three Prime Ministers since I've been rewatching season 4.

Good to see you here!!!! welcome back :)

(I also went on a weird early 2000s rewatch kick during covid. I couldn't handle anything beyond procedurals or older shows, ReGenesis, MI-5, The Wire, Wire in the Blood, The West Wing and, more recently, Justified and Peaky Blinder. Something about knowing where it's headed and not getting blindsighted while still having the feelings?)

Same on the rereading! I went through crazy relistening of audiobooks and podfics this year. All of Rivers of London, all of Castillo Price's PsyCop, all over Dresden Files... I had a week where I listened to like nearly a dozen domestic cozies by Josh Lanyon. I don't even like cozies, but my brain can't be taxed most of the time...

I have this entire theory about the pleasures of rereading that I gave at a conference on Spoilers. I was a tad out of place there--I spoil myself on purpose!!! :)

Yes!!! I totally think it's romance reader thing, because we are very in tune with our own expectations. I mean, fans have always been like that, and out robust tagging system shows that. But even commercial romance readers will recognize different subgenres and know HEA and HFN (and don't you DARE tell me it's romance when they die at the end or such shit....)
